The amount of C-Arm usage during focusing or stone localization depends on two factors
- The type, size and position of stone
- The ability of the user
Normally during stone localization the use of c-arm depends on the location of the stone, the ease of locating the stone and bringing it to the point of focus. This process may take 3 to 8 minutes and depends on case to case. Moreover, during the treatment if the stone is large and/or stationary, the use of c-arm comes down. On the other hand, for small and/ or moving stones the requirement of c-arm is more as you need to keep monitoring / adjusting the stone on focus, by adjusting the treatment table.
You also need to use the c-arm to monitor the amount of fragmentation, after administering a few shockwaves (around 500). This use may come down as the user becomes familiar to ESWL usage and stone fragmentation rate.
